Climate Control System for Industrial Mushroom Farm

Project Challenge

To achieve year-round, high-yield production of specialty mushrooms (like shiitake and oyster), the client needed precise control over the climate in their cultivation rooms. This included managing temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, and fresh air exchange rates for different growth stages (spawn run, pinning, and fruiting).

Solution Provided

We installed a fully integrated HVAC and refrigeration system for each cultivation room. Each system included a dedicated air handling unit (AHU) with heating, cooling, and humidification capabilities. CO2 sensors and variable frequency drive (VFD) fans allowed for precise control of air quality. A central PLC controller automated the climate recipes for each growth stage.

Project Results

The client has achieved consistent, year-round harvests, increasing their total annual yield by over 50%. The precise climate control has also resulted in higher quality mushrooms, which command a premium price in the market. Utility costs were minimized due to the use of high-efficiency components and VFDs.
